The Beatles - Live at Shea Stadium (bootleg) .
A bootleg album taken from The Beatles' 1965 Shea Stadium show.
The jacket is white, with a simple, apparently hand-done label. There is an insert with the tracks listed, which is erroneously titled "LAST LIVE SHOW." This concert was a year-plus before the band's actual last live show (not counting the rooftop concert at the very end). The inner sleeve is plain white and thus not pictured.
I can't find this exact record online. The content on this record I have seen in other packaging, on other bootleg labels.
I think this record dates from the early 70s . . . I recall buying it somewhere around 1971.
The sound quality is not great. The bass is more or less nonexistent and the drums are difficult to hear at many points. The biggest issue of course is the continuous screaming. It quickly takes on the character of high-pitched white noise and it never lets up. Those not old enough to remember and who might question that fans screamed continuously during Beatles' shows will be convinced, listening to this.
Other little things -- one track is clips from an interview, and the last track is an encore -- the band performs "I'm Down" again, but there are more interview snippets voiced over it. At one point, then-famous New York AM radio DJ, Murray the K, self-proclaimed "fifth Beatle" is introduced; I assume he was the MC for this concert.
The vinyl is OK . . . there is some crackling, and there are a couple of small skips. The labels also say "LAST LIVE SHOW," erroneously. The Side 1 label says 101-B, and the Side 2 label says 101-A, presumably an error. The total times given on the labels are wrong. The insert calls the record "Live #501." That designation is nowhere on the label. Of course, with bootlegs consistency is rarely a thing.
