Description
The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour Capitol Records MONO VERSION.
It’s on the Capitol label, catalogue number MAL-2835 from 1967. This was the very last Beatles LP to be pressed in mono in the US. The mono format was abandoned entirely in 1968 so was only available for a few months. The album is full of different mixes vs stereo version.
The un-laminated gatefold cover is the very 1st press, heavy cardboard type and is in excellent condition. There is no writing and, more importantly no splits anywhere on sleeve or where record is removed - which is rare in US card sleeves. The spine is ultra wide (8mm) and titles and cat no. clearly visible. There is minimal scuffing on corners. Inside gatefold sleeve is the 24 page colour booklet that is intact and pages stapled together and stuck neatly onto inside of gatefold (lyric side). The booklet is in excellent condition - no rips no writing - difficult to find in such condition. Very light rub wear on the back cover can still see manufacture details - a very clean copy and worth collecting just for condition of sleeve.
The vinyl still has its original sheen but has a number of surface scratches but plays well although there is noticeable crackling on some songs on side 1(most noticeable on quiet tracks) but no skips or jumps. Side 2 has a jump on hello goodbye but rest of songs play great so am grading this as GOOD. Matrix numbers on side 1 = MAL (scored out T) -1 2835-F9 with triangle and I AN printed inside triangle. Side 2 = MAL (scored out T) - 2 - 2835 - F1 (?or F9 not clear) - ?2 (no triangle on this side).
The labels are clean and have no writing or spindle marks. Label rim has rainbow colouration
Definitely an above-average 1st press copy and a real collectors item.
P&P in UK will be £7 (its a heavy sleeve and LP) - I will post worldwide but this will be more please contact me 1st before bidding
