Description

In this auction:

  • “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” LP by The Beatles

  • This LP is Capitol Records MAL - 2835.

  • This is the UNCOMMON and HARD-TO-FIND MONO (monaural) PRESSING.

  • Mono pressings were issued November 27, 1967.

  • “Magical Mystery Tour” was the LAST U.S. Beatles LP title to be issued in MONO. The subsequent Beatles LPs released in the U.S., “Abbey Road”, “The Beatles” (aka: “The White Album”), “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude” (aka: “The Beatles Again”, were ALL issued ONLY in STEREO in the U.S.

  • The GATE-FOLD COVER is in STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION. There is light overall wear (as you can see in the images). There is light to moderate wear is on the corners depending on the corner. There is a very small “push” on the corner at the bottom of then opening. The rear cover has some light partial ring wear and a small piece of clear tape at the top left corner. Inside the gate-fold cover is a name written lightly at the top. The 24-PAGE BOOKLET is included and attached inside the gate-fold cover. There is a very small tear/scuff on the “A” in “JACKLEY” on the first page of the booklet. It appears at one time the booklet had come detached from the cover and was re-attached with pieces of clear tape. Remnants of the tape are visible on the first page of the open gate-fold showing the track listing and booklet contents and on pages 22 and 23 (Ringo with trophy on his head and Beatles in white tuxedos). All pages are still attached to the booklet which is still attached to the inside cover with staples and glue instead of clear tape.

  • This is an EAST-COAST PRESSING. We know this because:

     1) East Coast inner gate-fold slicks have “No you’re not!” under “I Am The Walrus” in block print. (West Coast issues have “No you’re not!” in hand-written print.)

    2) The vinyl has the triangle that identifies Capitol’s Scranton pressing plant in the trail-off vinyl.

  • The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION. There are a number of very light surface hairlines/scuffs (but none of them are “feelable”.) The vinyl has lots of gloss.

It’s a NICE MONO PRESSING of the BEATLES’ “Magical Mystery Tour” LP to add to your vinyl collection.

As you may know (and to quote Perry Cox):

"MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR" IS ONE OF THE SCARCER LPs TO FIND IN THE MONO FORMAT, AS IT

(monaural) WAS BEING PHASED OUT AT THE TIME. FAR MORE STEREO PRESSINGS WERE MADE."
