IN THIS AUCTION:

• “MEET THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles

• This LP is Capitol Records T 2047.

• This is a MONO (Monaural) LP.

• The Cover is a Capitol-marked cover with “Capitol” on the front cover, rear cover and spine.

• The LP in this auction was produced at Capitol Records’ Scranton pressing plant. This is based on the number “3” printed on the rear cover at lower right .

• The VINYL has a triangle “?” in the trail-off wax which is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant. So, this is the correct vinyl for this cover with the #3 on the cover and the “?” in the dead wax.

• This LP has black Capitol labels with color bands.

• This MONO PRESSING is the SECOND LABEL VARIATION that credits ASCAP for every song except “I Want to Hold Your Hand” which is credited to BMI.

• As you probably know, the First Variation labels for “MEET THE BEATLES” had NO ASCAP or BMI PUBLISHING CREDITS printed on the labels and has become tough (and high-dollar) to find these days.

• The COVER is in VG+ CONDITION. There is very minimal cover wear as you can see in the images. And this primarily-black front cover slick was notorious for easily developing and often showing wear. There is some slight overall aging (foxing) on the white rear cover. There is just a little bit of “balding on the corners at the top and bottom of the spine. The seams and spine are strong. There are no worn seams and NO seam splits.

• COVERS for SECOND LABEL VARIATION VINYL did not have the George Martin production credit printed on the rear cover and had “BEATLES” on the front cover in tan or brown. The COVER in this auction DOES NOT HAVE the George Martin production credit printed on the rear cover, and “BEATLES” is dark brown in color; therefore, this is the CORRECT COVER for this SECOND LABEL VARIATION VINYL.

• The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with a number of very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feel-able”). The name “PATTERSON” is written in black marker across the Side 1 label; however, since it is black marker on the black label and does not obscure any of the silver printing, it’s effect is minimal, and it does not stand out significantly. It is more observable if the record is turned at certain angles with reflected light on it.

• This record comes with what may be its original and correct Capitol Records blue inner paper sleeve that has glue stains on one side and an asterisk (*) in blue ballpoint drawn on the other side.
