Original true 1st day January 20, 1964 pressing copy of The Beatles’ second US album “Meet The Beatles!” and the band’s 1st album to be released on Capitol Records. 1st print label variation without the BMI / ASCAP publishing credits for all of the songs. 1st print single-type cardboard cover with a dark brown “The Beatles” banner on the front and no ”Produced by George Martin” credit on the back. Just like the labels, the cover contains the Mono T-2047 catalog number. The lower right-hand corner of the back cover contains the RIAA 3 number identifying that this record was pressed at the Capitol Records plant in Scranton, PA. An original promotional orange-white “The Beatles Are Coming!” “teaser” sticker, which comes with this album, represents one of the earliest Capitol Records Beatles memorabilia. Measuring 3” x 2”, the sticker was intended to promote the release of the “Meet the Beatles!” album and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” single as a part of Capitol’s Beatlemania campaign and was manufactured in rolls of 250. The vintage circa mid-70s scan copy of the original Capitol Memo signed by Paul Russell dated December, 1963 intended for sales managers and regional managers contains a lot of important and historical information concerning the initial “Beatles Campaign” which involves the promotional items issued, including “The Beatles are Coming!” sticker, and their planned uses and release dates. The heavyweight vinyl pressed at the Scranton, PA plant has the very early matrix numbers Side 1- T1-2047-F1 / Side 2- T2-2047-G4 along with the plant’s identifier “IAM in a Triangle” stamped IN the runout groove on both sides. As a bonus to this copy we’re including an original 1964 32-page 7” x 9½” promotional advance “THE BEATLES” booklet that was sent to radio and TV in advance of the band’s first U.S. tour. The front cover displays a photo by Robert Freeman, which was later used for the artwork of the “Meet the Beatles” album. The booklet includes the “Life With The Beatles” article, the band members’ bio, a color full-sheet poster with a photo of The Beatles and their autographs along with numerous rare black and white photos. The booklet was published in 1964 by Highlight Publications, Inc, located in New York by agreement with PYX publications Limited of London, England, original publishers of “The Beatles”.

The cover is in amazing Near Mint condition. All of the corners remain sharp and the original factory shrink wrap is fully intact only having some age shelf wear. I grade the glossy vinyl as Very Good Plus due to it having some light non-feelable hairlines, marks along with some light scuffs from the original paper inner sleeve, which is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits. The labels are in Excellent Minus condition, scuff- and wear-free, but have some few spindle marks which can be seen under a strong light source. The original "The Beatles Are Coming!" sticker, scan copies of Ken Russell's Capitol Memo and original advance promotional booklet are in great vintage condition, with the first half of the booklet only having two small pin holes, one in the upper left-hand corner and the other at the center right. The vinyl sounds great only having some very light static, which most likely could get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
