I’m sure that you’re well aware that the earliest 1st copies of Meet The Beatles! pressed on January 20, 1964 didn’t have the BMI / ASCAP publishing credits on the labels. The majority of these copies were pressed in the Mono format and only a handful, approximately 15%, were Stereo. The copy currently listed for an auction is one a few dozen examples that has survived to this day. This is indeed the rarest example of the very 1st day Stereo pressing of this album. The front cover contains an original “The Beatles Are Coming!”  3” x 2” sticker which was intended to promote the release of the “Meet the Beatles!” album and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” single as a part of Capitol’s Beatlemania campaign and was manufactured in rolls of 250. One more item that was a part of the promotional campaign and comes with the album is the “National Records News. Special Beatles Issue” newspaper tabloid which was created by the Capitol Records’ Publicity Director Fred Martin. The four-page fold-out 14¾" X 11½ newspaper contains the pictures of the band, the stories about Beatlemania along with the fashion news regarding the Beatle hairdo, biographies, including that of manager Brian Epstein, who is called “The Fifth Beatle”. The unique feature of this newspaper issue is the misprint of the band members names, identifying Paul as John, John as George and George as Paul. Only Ringo is mentioned correctly. The vintage circa mid-70s scan copy of the original Capitol Memo signed by Paul Russell dated December, 1963 intended for sales managers and regional managers contains a lot of important and historical information concerning the initial “Beatles Campaign” which involves the promotional items issued, including “The Beatles are Coming!” sticker and the “National Records News. Special Beatles Issue” newspaper tabloid, and their planned uses and release dates. Original thick cardboard single-type paste cover dark brown 'Beatles' display 1st Stereo variation cover with a large 'Stereo' banner at the top and the RIAA 3 factory designator number in the lower right-hand corner on the back.  Very early 1st label variation without the publishing “BMI” & “ASCAP” publishing credits for any of the songs, absolutely rarest label variation of "Meet The Beatles!". Original Capitol Records ST-2047 (Stereo) catalog number black label with a multicolored spectrum ("Rainbow") band along the label's edge without the "subsidary" print. The heavyweight Stereo vinyl pressed at the Scranton, PA plant has the very early 1st matrix numbers: Side 1- ST-1-2047-A1#2 P / Side 2- ST-2-2047-A3#2 P along with the plant’s identifier “IAM in a Triangle” stamped in the runout groove on both sides. The album comes with an original Capitol Records very early 1st print 112-TC-1 (Scranton) royal blue inner sleeve, containing the other Capitol releases.

The cover is graded as Excellent Minus. It's very clean and doesn't have any writing, splits and ring wear, perhaps only some very light hints at the bottom of the front cover. Some very light age discoloration in a couple of place. The scan copies of Capitol Memo and the newspaper tabloid are in great vintage condition with the tabloid have some light stain from a piece of tape but no residue. I grade the glossy vinyl as Very Good Plus. It maintains its beautiful factory lacquer only having a few very light non-feelable hairlines along with some light scuffs from the inner sleeve which is in Near Mint Minus condition. The clean labels are practically in Near Mint Minus condition with only Side 2 having a couple of very light barely noticeable spindle marks that could be seen under a strong light source. The vinyl sounds great with only just some light static that could get reduced if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
