Description
Hello and thanks for looking.
This is for what (I think) is known as the 5th press of 'Please Please Me'. Stereo. Parlophone PCS 3042.
In terms of distinguishing features, I can confirm the following:
- Rounded ''flip-back' sleeve.
- ''Made and Printed in Great Britain''
- It says ''Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending PMC 1202 PCS 3042'' (in bottom right hand corner).
- The label states ''Recording first published 1963'' at the 9 o'clock position.
- Label has Yellow pound logo and Parlophone lettering.
- It says ''Sold in U.K....'' across the label under the Parlophone logo.
- The rim text starts with ''The Parlophone Co Ltd.'' in all caps.
It appears to be very similar to the version listed here: https://www.discogs.com/Beatles-Please-Please-Me/release/430964 (...but I think the type on the label is slightly taller).
Matrix / Runout:
- (Runout stamp side A): YEX 94-1
- (Runout stamp side B): YEX 95-1
Cosmetically, it's in not bad shape. The flipback cover is intact with no seam splits or unglued areas, but it is fairly grubby on the seams, and it looks like some paper has stuck to it in one area (see pics). There is some minor creasing to the laminate here and there. There is an inscription on the back sleeve. Not too intrusive IMO. I'm not sure if this has the original inner - this one appears to be advertising other 'HMV; LPs. The record itself is pretty decent, but does have some scuff marks, more so on side 2. Visually I suppose rate around a VG (mainly because of side 2)
A quick playtest reveals some generally unobtrusive surface noise. No deep sounding, repetitive clicks, or jumps/skips.
Bear in mind there's some reflection on the pictures of the record itself. Hopefully the pics will tell you anything else you need to know, but if not, just message me!
