        Rare?  What we are offering here, for a no reserve auction, is a mint copy of the original Capitol Records Promotional 45 of “Penny Lane” b/w “Strawberry Fields Forever”. This Record has been in the collection of a top forty DJ since he received it in 1967.  At that time he was aware of the future collectability of the disc and placed it in a heavy paper “green stock” sleeve and placed that in a vinyl cover.  This copy is absolutely mint and appears to have never been played.  Both sides have the authentic asterisk machine stamped in the run-off area on both sides and have perfect chartreuse “Promotion Record - Not For Sale” labels.   This disc became an instant rarity because it contained an earlier mono mix of Penny Lane different from the commercially released 45. This mix (known as mix RM11) featured a trumpet overdub over the ending of the song that was shaved off of later mixes, including the mix heard on the commercial single and the Magical Mystery Tour EP in the UK and the Magical Mystery Tour LP in the U.S.  To answer my opening question, as a former Capitol and Apple promotion manager, I would say definitely YES!  If you have questions about this item please make use of the “Ask The Seller A Question” option.  We welcome your comments and suggestions on how we might improve the content of our listings.  We also would appreciate corrections, if it appears our facts are wrong or misleading.  If you have questions about the seller, please review our feedback.  Postage in the Continental United States will be exactly what the USPS requires.  We charge an additional $ 2.00 to cover the cost of a new mailer, pads and USPS Delivery Confirmation.
