For auction here is a first U.K. mono issue of the Beatles first album Please Please Me. All complete with original First Issue sleeve, original Use Emitex inner and Black/Gold labelled First Issue vinyl.
Sleeve. Original first issue sleeve in G+ condition. You can tell it is original by the positioning of the photo credit on the front. The front is in great condition, as is the spine and top edge. The only real issue is that the bottom rear fold over has partially gone. There is also a noticeable but neat name written on the back.
Use Emitex inner sleeve is original and in excellent condition with no splits tears or writing.
The vinyl - visually is VG. Numerous minor scuffs and hairlines but nothing serious. Black and Gold Labels are excellent with no scuffs or writing. All credits etc fully readable. Dick James credits show it is genuine first issue. Mother/stampers- 1 L and 1 O, which shows it is early pressing.
Play test. Plays even better than it looks. Side one is excellent. Only minor crackles between tracks but none during the music. No clicks sticks skips or jumps. Side two is VG+. Again, no clicks sticks skips or jumps but occasional crackles during a couple of the tracks.
All in all this is a great chance to obtain a very playable copy of this iconic piece of pop history. Even with its issues, the sleeve remains intact and the front is very good.
