Description
This is from my personal collection
Released on March 22, 1963, Parlophone only produced roughly 25,000 to 30,000 mono copies of their first album with this specific color scheme before transitioning permanently to the more common black and yellow label layout later that year.
This copy features"Dick James Mus. Co." publishing credits for the tracks "I Saw Her Standing There", "Misery", "Do You Want To Know A Secret", "There's A Place", and "Please Please Me".
The matrix numbers machine-stamped into the dead wax read XEX 421-1N (Side 1) and XEX 422-1N (Side 2)
Mother = 1 and Stamper = GR
Vinyl is VG (-)
As you would expect from a record of this age, it has visible surface marks and scuffs. The important point is that these are surface marks that don’t cause any jumps, pops or clicks upon playback (I am using an Ortofon Bronze cart and stylus).
There is some background static commensurate with an album of this age (63 years old!) but nothing that over powers the music.
I’d suggest this copy, although well played, has been looked after. It certainly has since I acquired it about 15 years ago. I have played it a couple of times just for the joy of listening to an original Black & Gold copy but it’s mainly been stored in a modern anti-static inner to preserve it.
The sleeve is in VG (-) condition with minimal creasing to the front laminate and the smallest of tears to the opening (see pictures). The reverse is strong with some age discolouration but no writing or other damage and the flip backs are in decent condition (again, see pictures to enhance description)
Original inner is also present and in a VG condition.
For all other information see the pictures but I’d be more than happy to answer any questions.
All in all a nice copy of this super rare Beatles LP.
