Description
Please Please Me 4th Original Pressing from 1963 on the UK Parlophone lable. This 4th pressing does not hold the 'Sold In The UK..' text blurb and hence would have been available for sale in 1963, only a few months after going on general release. Matrix -1N/-1N. Stampers 3-GLR/10-GLG. The LP comes housed in an original Ernest J.Day record cover which is consistent with all early copies of this LP.
LP (Ex+) For a 50 year old record playback is astonishing! Under close inspection I can see nothing more than a couple of very light marks - but nothing that 'sounds'. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an Excellent+ level of playback. Now, for a record of this age that really is remarkable. Intro and inbetweens are almost silent and the audio comes across with excellent clarity and it is totally unhindered by interference. I think I recall hearing only a couple of light crackles throughout the entire record. It is also worth mentioning the sound quality. I think the playback on this Lp would better all modern formats today! Great instrument seperation, a solid low-end to the sound and all the percussion seems crystal clear. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard a better rendition of this LP - highly recommended to someone who is really looking for optimal sound quality.
Cover (VG) A good solid copy of an original Ernst J Day cover. These covers often turn up wrecked, but this one is still in pretty respectable condition. The cover has good rigidity and the flipbacks are secure, although there is damage to the bottom flipback. The front is nice and shiny and the rear has escaped the usual fading. Please note a previous owner appears to have written their name in ink on the rear - twice. The spine is intact as is the text on it.
Emitex (VG+) A couple of light tears, but no markings or ageing.
