The Beatles Please Please Me LP UK 4th Stereo Press SUPER AUDIO [Ex/Vg+]

	£		195
	$		258

An original early 4th STEREO press on UK Parlophone label. An actual record for once that you can genuinely call rare! Most Beatles records are nowhere near 'rare' as often purported. It takes quite an unusual set of circumstances for a record by the Beatles to be genuinely rare...But these late spring 1963 copies in STEREO are hellishly difficult to track down. And actually finding a decent playing/looking copy harder still. Matrix 1/1 [as you would expect]. Stampers 1GG/1M - revealing a truly early copy. You can't really go much early than this without dipping into ultra expensive Black & Gold territory. Labels are correct 4th.... STEREO in large format. NO 'Sold In The UK'. 'Record 1st Pub' is present. The heavy-set vinyl comes in an original 1963 Stereo cover by E J Day. The cover is collectable alone! We also have the original Emitex inner with 'patent applied for'. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Note the original item was purchased in 'Harlequins in Soho' [see sticker on the rear].
Vinyl (Ex) Well, if you want an original Stereo...THIS is what you want it to play like. Wowzer. Just handling an early stereo like this copy is one thing. But to find one that actually plays SUPERB like a collector wants...that is quite another. Has only seen light careful use which is so so important on early Stereo. A couple of light trail marks per side, but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one incredibly slight deviation. I cannot begin to tell you how unusual that statement is. This sort of level of preservation on a true '63 stereo is VERY unusual. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. I really couldn't recommend it more highly for audio. In terms of a clean background it would give a mint 90's copy a run for its money. Just think about the passage of time though. Super unusual. The vibrancy and energy in these early pressings is just phenomenal. Ok, so we'd all like a Stereo gold and black copy....but how much is that gonna set you back?...clue ... don't even think about it! THIS copy is giving you sound quality on a par copy with Spring '63 without re-mortgaging the house. It is investment grade and for a collector it would be a total no-brainer. I am grading conservatively so no one could possibly take issue. Clean-as-a-frickin-whistle. Unbelievably revealing. And ALL in stereo. Low-key numbers are delivered with a super clean background [Honey & Secret etc]. The perennial crowd pleasers like 'Love Me Do' can get hammered. This copy delivers a nigh on perfect rendition. All I could detect was a couple of crackles as 'Chains' closes out and a couple more running into 'Baby Its You'. And one solitary tick early in Anna. Not a whiff of groove wear. You can look as long as you like for a great original stereo. But one thing I can assure you...you will never find a better playing copy. Which is a very high accolade.
Cover (Vg+) Given it is stereo and given that it is '63 - this cover is incredibly well preserved. VERY few copies will be looking like this after 60 years. Yes, this LP is 60 years old next year. Time flies! A perfectly clean and flat front cover with a couple of minor surface level creases. No signs of wear or the rippling effect. The rear is well tidy and has avoided a lot of the wear and ageing that afflicts these early copies. A bit of low level ageing in evidence - but looks clean and tidy which is the most important thing. Flipbacks are pretty much all intact and certainly very secure. Minimal edge wear and firm openings. Spine is 99% intact - sweet! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No spits. Bag present.
