Description

The Beatles 1st studio album in Mono as released in the UK (PMC 1202).  I believe this to be a variation of a 4th (Mono) pressing issued around June/July 1963. After the initial March 1963 release on the Gold/Black Parlophone [Mono] labels, there were many subtle differences on the later Yellow/Black Parlophone labels which make pinpointing the precise chronological issue quite challenging.  (visit 'Beatles Collecting Guide' on line and check out the info that is presented regarding this title if you wish)
Not such a difficult pressing to find perhaps.... BUT....finding a copy in presentable condition with acceptable audio is another matter.  While this copy is not in Near Mint condition ($700.00+ if it were) it is in good enough condition to provide the listener with a decent audio experience.  These early UK Beatles records were pressed very well on sturdy, thick and heavy vinyl so they really have to be trashed to be unlistenable.
It's really quite amazing when you play this record...almost immediately you hear the bold, powerful, detailed Mono audio completely leaving virtually every other modern reissue in the dust.  Remarkable.
Cover: VG+.....printed by Ernest J. Day & Co. ...the lamination still holds up quite well.  All 4 corners have some wear and scuffing but not unbearably so.  There is a small area of discoloration at the bottom right corner (which also transfers to the back bottom left corner) but it is quite inoffensive. The spine is solid and all the printing is legible.  The back cover is in cleaner condition than most that are found....the flipbacks are still quite strong and show only minimal wear.  All in all a very nice example and rarely found in much better condition.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Ex-.....some creasing and yellowing from age....but without splits, writing, or tears.  A higher quality audiophile inner will be provided to house the precious record.
Record: VG ~ VG+.....a nice solid pressing on thick and heavy vinyl.  Under bright lights one can see some hairlines, scuffing, and other superficial markings....but most do not interfere with the sensational audio heard from both sides of this record.  You'll hear the occasional light tick or some brief moments of surface noise but it never dominates the rich and detailed Mono audio.  There are some spindle marks visible but both labels are still quite clean.  The "M K T" tax code is visible around the Side 2 spindle hole (The letter K overlaps the 2nd L in 'Please')  As mentioned earlier, not a Near Mint example but certainly more than acceptable and will satisfy most Beatles fans who have yet to hear the superb and unparalleled  audio from these early UK pressings.
