The Beatles - Please Please Me
This outstanding copy of the Beatles' debut studio album is a UK first pressing on the highly sought after yellow and black Parlophone label.
Due to the on-set of Beatlemania, early issue Please Please Me LPs have generally been played to death on a low quality early 60s record deck. This copy stands out by remaining in fantastic condition. The heavy weight vinyl looks and sounds simply superb and the sleeve looks almost shop-new. A true final upgrade!
Album Details:
Serial number: PMC 1202
Matrix number: XEX 421 - 1N / XEX 422 - 1N
Stamper codes: 1 GOG / 4 GOL
Tax Codes: MT
Vinyl Weight: 170g
The matrix numbers inform us that this record is a UK first pressing. The mother and stamper codes suggest that the record was produced early in the production cycle. Consequently, the audio has a clarity that is difficult to improve upon without spending a considerable amount. Take a listen below!
The vinyl has the 5th variation labels identified by the "Recording First Published..." text to the left hand side and the absence of the text: "Sold in the U.K. ...".
The vinyl is housed inside a front-side laminated E J Day & Co. sleeve. The sleeve is a second variant, identifiable by the position of the Angus McBean photo credit below the G of 'Songs' and the 'cut-out' flip-backs to the reverse.
Also included is the original heavy paper polythene lined EMItex die-cut inner sleeve that only came with very early pressings.

Vinyl: EXCELLENT +
Labels: EXCELLENT +
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. No spindle wear is present but there is very subtle rubbing around the spindle hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
The vinyl retains immaculate 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight there are no visible surface marks. Underneath a halogen desk lamp a few barely visible wispy hairlines can be seen alongside a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: MINT -
Please use the eBay internet site to enjoy the audio clips. The eBay app does not facilitate playback.
Side 1:
Side 2:
As can be heard in the above clips, the heavy-weight monaural vinyl sounds simply superb. The record plays with the distinction one might expect from such an early pressing. The bass is punchy, the vocals are crisp and clear and the instrumentation is well defined. It's great.
Sleeve: MINT-
The now iconic album sleeve looks fantastic. The front laminate retains the original lustre and the cover art maintains bright colours. The rear is extremely clean with barely a single blemish. The bottom left hand corner has very subtle softening. The remaining three corners are strong. The top, bottom and opening edges along with the spine are without any wear. Very difficult to find better than this.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT +
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is very clean, without any staining and with minimal creasing.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test, the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl was placed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
