The Beatles - Please Please Me. True 3rd U.K. mono. extra 33 1/3. VG/VG. 1RA/1RG
This is the very rare 3rd U.K. mono issue with the extra ‘33 1/3’ on the labels. Even rarer than the Black and Gold 1st and 2nd press versions. Estimated only about 5000 pressed with this very short-lived label.
Very low stampers - again, lower than many 1st and 2nd press copies. Stampers would suggest this was in first 20 thousand pressed.
Original ‘Gold’ sleeve in VG condition. Only issues are a name on the front and minor loss to bottom rear fold over flap and some tape residue. Otherwise edges and spine in excellent condition.
Original Use Emitex inner in excellent condition
Record labels visually VG, with signs of spindle wear. Numerous scuffs and other superficial marks to both sides, so visually VG-. Nothing too deep or worrying.
As with so many LPs manufactured by EMI in early 60s this plays better than it looks. Sits fully flat on the turntable.
Sonically plays as VG, as apart from light crackles, mainly audible in quieter passages, there are no major issues. No sticks skips or jumps.
Will be very well packaged and record will be separated from outer sleeve and in a new anti static inner sleeve.
This is not an audiophile archival quality copy, but plays through well and is a very enjoyable listen.
