Description
The Beatles - Please Please Me - UK mono 4th pressing 1963
XEX 421-1N / XEX 422-1N
This is a solid early UK fourth mono pressing of The Beatles’ Please Please Me, issued in 1963. Ernest J Day sleeve, KT tax code, 1N/1N matrices and all the relevant label items for a fourth pressing.
The front laminated flipback sleeve is in sound VG+ order to the front – just a bit of corner wear, while to the rear it is more like Good+ with the lower flipback having come detached from the rest and some tattiness to the corners. Easily fixable. Readable spine.
The vinyl looks pretty clean for a 61-year-old record - no major scratches or scuffs, just the usual hairlines visible under a bright light. It plays through fine with the music sounding loud and crisp. There’s a little surface noise noticeable in between tracks and some more noticeable crackle during the first part of A taste of honey on Side 2. Overall I’d grade it a solid VG+.
The yellow and black labels are close to Excellent with very minimal spindle wear.
It comes with a nice period Emitex lined inner sleeve in excellent condition.
A nice copy for collectors, with room to upgrade when you get the chance.
