Condition – Cover
G+. This the very first pressing of this iconic LP. This is confirmed by the following details;* Original Ernest J. Day flipback sleeve with a large mono on the front.
* A of Angus McBean starts under the second S in Songs.
* Dick James Music is given the publishers credit for I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want To Know A Secret and There's A Place.
* Beatles penned songs are credited to McCartney/Lennon.
There is some marked corner wear and some edge wear, particularly at the bottom.
The spine is in very good condition apart from a scuff through the t in Beatles.
The flipbacks are in good condition, although there is a 3 inch split at the top of the left bottom flipback, as can be seen in the photograph.
There is some light staining to the rear, but no writing.
Condition – Record
G+. This is the very first press of this rare LP, as confirmed by the matrix numbers of XEX 431-1N AND XEX 422-1N.
Visually the record would grade as a G, but I have just played it through on my system and would grade it VG-. I plays through perfectly well with no jumps or sticks and not too much background noise.
I want to be as fair as possible, so if you are unsure of RRPG definitions please check them out.
Some of the ink on the labels has faded, probably due to handling. The labels are completely readable.
There are a lot of marks on both sides although none of them are too deep.
It definitely plays better than it looks.
A decent copy of this mega rare LP and a very low start price.
I use the rare Record Price Guide as the source for gradings. Please see my feedback.
