Description
When was the last time you saw a legitimate copy of the "Introducing the Beatles" LP in its original shrink wrap?
Here is a VERY nice copy of The Beatles' LP "Introducing the Beatles" on Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062 from February, 1964. This is a legitimate copy and not the counterfeit that you see so often.
What makes it so special is that the LP is still in its original shrink wrap from 1964!! The shrink wrap is still nice and tight around the cover and there are no rips or tears in the wrap. When I first obtained this copy, I wondered if it was re-wrapped at one time. Two things told me that it is the original shrink wrap: 1) In the upper left corner there are two small (very small) staple holes ( see photo). The staple holes first go through the shrink wrap and THEN through the cover and 2) looking under the shrink, the cover is in Mint condition! There are two possible reasons WHY there are staple holes: 1) Back in the 1960's small record dealers would often staple their price stickers (often more like tickets) to their records and 2) Dealers would staple top LP's to their wall display.
Any any rate, I am totally convinced that this is the shrink wrap that Vee Jay Records applied to this LP cover back in 1964!
Next, the vinyl. The "Introducing the Beatles" LP was there at the beginning of Beatlemania and Beatlemania was 'Party Time!' That's why so many copies of this LP turn up in VG and worse condition. They became party records. The original owner of this copy took better care of it than most.
This copy has "Ask Me Why" and "Please, Please Me" songs replacing "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" on the first Vee Jay release.
Visually, the vinyl does have small marks but plays at least Mint Minus and better! I play tested some of each cut. There was silence in the lead-in grooves and also silence in the grooves between cuts. The sound was awesome! I did not detect any clicks, pops or surface noise in all of the spots I tested, just great sounding Beatles songs!
Included here is an original Vee Jay inner sleeve showing images of some of Vee Jay's other LP releases.
So, here is a rare souvenir of the first days of Beatlemania from February, 1964. 61 years later it remains it is original shrink wrap!
I will double box this LP for safety and security. I will send it "Restricted Delivery" so that the winner will need to produce a Photo ID in order to accept it from the USPS. That will protect both the winner and me.
Shipping/Handling will be $14.99 within the U.S.
