Description

An original 1st mono issue of Revolver from 1966 - whilst still charting. Matrix 2/3. Please note very 1st pressings carry the alternate TNK's mix - **THIS IS NOT THAT COPY**. This is a marginally later 1st issue [within 1st two months of release] when the labels were still exhibiting the abbreviated " Dr. Robert ". At 1st release Lennon mentioned that this didn't fit with the actual "meaning of the song" - and asked for it to be extended to "DOCTOR" - which was more befitting of the actual content of the song. These abbreviated early heavy pressed copies are the ones that a collector should be aiming for. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono cover with flipbacks.
Vinyl (Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. It's a really nice looking slab of sixties vinyl. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Remember that Revolover is a bit of a tricky customer when it comes to finding a decent playing copy.. Many examples might "look good" - but I can assure you many of these do not necessarily 'sound good'. Revolver has a number of notoriously fussy tracks...think...'Rigby', 'Here T Everywhere', 'Submarine'. Many copies will stumble on these...as they rarely play completely clean. But this copy is a cut above what usually surfaces. It's not perfectly clean on those tricky tracks, but it's delivering very nicely resolved audio with relatively little background. Expect a touch of light static occasionally in a couple of those fussy tracks on side 1. Absolutely nothing invasive, just low-level background intermittent stuff [minor]. Overall a very well preserved and impressive sounding original.
Cover (Vg+) A very nice looking original mono cover. A nice shiny front with a couple of creases and ageing just starting to become apparent over toward the opening. The rear looks very nice and clean, but there's a bit of low-level ageing. Still, much better than many copies look by this point in time. Edge wear is lightish and the spine is nice looking with only a couple of minor stress creases. Overall the cover retains really good rigidity. A very nice original example.
