Description

The Beatles Revolver Mono 1st Press XEX 606-1 ‘withdrawn mix’ rare Vinyl 1M 1L
for reference visit Discogs, this release/listing = First issue with XEX-606-1 matrix number on Side 2, containing the withdrawn "Remix 11" version of "Tomorrow Never Knows". Dr. Robert on both record label and sleeve.
Further explanation: - When “Revolver” was initially mixed a different master for “Tomorrow Never Knows” was sent off to be pressed. This mix is known as ‘Remix 11’. Although subtle, it is different to the standard ‘Remix 8’ which was ultimately to replace it. The story goes that each group member was given the first copies from the production line and John went to listen to it. But, it turned out that he was unhappy with the mix or that the wrong one had been used and he informed George Martin. Production was then stopped as the new masters were cut and the pressing plates were replaced. First presses have a side 2 matrix number of XEX 606-1 whereas the standard presses have XEX 606-2 and beyond

Mother / Stamper indicators are very low, indicating a very early release: side one = 1/M, side two = 1/L (see below for explanation)
At 9 o clock is the mother number. In this case it is Mother # 1 At 3 o clock is the stamper code. The code works like this:
GRAMOPHONELTD
123456789,10,11,12,13

The letter above is code for the corresponding number below. Example:  the stamper code side one is single letter "M" in this record. This corresponds to the numbers M='4'  so side one Stamper is #4  the stamper code side two is single letter "L" in this record  corresponds to the numbers L='11'  so side one Stamper is #11)

CONDITION OF THIS COPY:
The outer sleeve remains in very, very nice condition. Some creases and laminate lift, a bit of rubbing on top edge, lovely spine and nice clean rear flip backs - please view all photos. A lovely solid example.
The Original plain white 'patents applied for' inner sleeve is clean and has no splits!
The record itself does show many signs of past use, it has been well played; but also well looked after as it sounds brilliant! There is rubbing around the centre holes, no names or ink marks ... Both sides of the vinyl have marks, nothing deep, mainly superficial; scuffs and light scratches - I have tried to show some in the photos, please view.
Nothing impacts playback  in a negative way though; it is still a fantastic listening experience, a little light crackle, a couple of clicks on side one and in the build up to TMK. Nobody could be disappointed with how it sounds.
So, a highly original, rare, very early example that plays really well....over to you for the bids!
More vinyl listed please take a look; Beatles, Zep, Bowie, Floyd and more...
