Description
The Beatles - Revolver - PMC 7009 2nd press 1966, EMI records and apparently an EMI pressing, according to discogs.com.
Owned from new by my late father and it's been kept in a largely unused cupboard for around 30 years. I've been handling it wearing vinyl gloves but there are some finger prints on it and some light / shallow scratches. Overall, it looks like it'll play really well and I would say it's VERY GOOD + grade.
Matrix numbers: XEX 605-2 (side 1) and XEX 606-2 (side 2)
This is a second press edition but it has the FIRST PRESS LABELS - which includes the "Dr. Robert" error (B4) - this is on both the sleeve and the label and was later corrected to read "Doctor Robert".
It has some possibly unusual stampers:
Side 1, 9 o'clock: "1" Side 1 3 o'clock: "H H' and then what looks like a scribbled out H! A little peculiar. This "H H" stamper could also be "H II" but I'm fairly convinced it's the former, because there is just the slightest hint of the crossbar between the two vertical lines of the second "H". The "scribbled out H" very much looks in the same vein as the other Hs, ie it's not damage to the record. I've no idea what the significance of this is. See photo 9. You can't see the alleged crossbar on the second H on photo 9, but you can see how the 'scribble' is just like the Hs and not random damage.
Side 2, 9 o'clock: "2" Side 2, approximately 3 o'clock: "T" - I could not get this to show up on a photo at all, so there's only my word for this, sorry.
Front cover design: Klaus Voormann Reverse cover photo: Robert Whitaker
Sleeve printed by: Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.
Condition of sleeve: good. There is some discolouration lower left front (main photo) and reverse bottom edge (photo 2). There's a drawing pin hole in the front top-right of the sleeve, just to the right of the word 'Mono', which is more easily seen on photos 2 (top left) & 12. The front top left corner of the sleeve is a bit worn / chafed.
Condition of inner: fair. Crinkled and discoloured - see photos 3 & 4. But original and shows "British Patent No. 800513", pat pending (photo 12).
Condition of record: Very good plus. Fingerprints and light / shallow scratches, but has been looked after well and not played for decades.
Postage. I've bought custom mailers and will include bubble wrap if it's not snug. International postage will be through the eBay global shipping program. If it happens to get broken in transit (I shudder even to mention the words), I would need detailed photographic proof that it's definitely this record that got damaged and not a cheap imitation. If that's the case, we can sort something out. Thanks for reading and be lucky!
