Description

An original 1st stereo press of RS on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 2/2 - absolute 1st cut. Remember, back in 1965 stereo was still very much the underdog to mono - these early stereo copies are difficult to track down. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original STEREO G&L cover. Also included is an original mid-sixties generic 'patents applied for' inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Vg) In nice condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Expect a few light marks - nothing seemingly heavy or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a VERYGOOD level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. A real rarity this copy - so if you're looking to bag a true 1st 1965 stereo then you need to be a bit flexible - unless you want to lay down some serious $$$. Plays fine by and large. Will not trouble the top grades - it doesn't play clean enough. Expect a bit of light back ground in places throughout. Mostly not too bad, but it will be audible here and there throughout ...perhaps more noticeable in the low-key tracks by virtue of noise to audio ratio. Michelle & My Life.. Are probably the only tracks I'd describe as 'sub-par' [an elevated level of crackle]. Expect a few clicks in a couple of spots per side. But overall a perfectly acceptable level of playback...and a true stereo 1st to boot.
Cover (Vg+) A decent looking front with just some creasing. The rear has escaped the worst of the ageing process. But it is in evidence in the odd spot with a couple of minor blemishes. A bit of wear here and there at the edges - bit it doesn't seem to have worn through anywhere. The spine is ok with just a couple of knocks where the text is rendering it illegible in the odd spot. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) No splits. A bit dirty in the odd spot.
