Description

THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'

'Rubber Soul' was the first UK Beatles LP without a 'stereo/mono' indicator on its front cover panel. However a small batch were manufactured with silver, or in this case black 'stereo' indicators, which are believed to have been for export purposes only

This NEAR MINT UK 2nd STEREO pressing of their 1965 LP dates from 1967/8 on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 3075

Both labels include the 'Sold In UK..' text with 'The Gramophone Co...' rims

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present around the side 1 centre hole

Matrix numbers: YEX 178-3 & YEX 179-3

Stamper codes: 2/GH & 2/GM

Vinyl weight: 163g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with the black 'stereo' indicator in the upper right corner of the front panel & complete with its original contemporary red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: NEAR MINT

A pristine pair with nothing more than a few tiny faint spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole only

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Immaculate deep-gloss playing surfaces which retain all of their factory shine and are, apart from a few harmless paper scuffs on side 1, unmarked in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals one or two tiny surface marks on side 2, but nothing I would call a scratch

Sound Quality: NEAR MINT

This flawless sounding copy has received just a handful of careful plays on top-quality equipment and the sound quality is clean, clear and unworn throughout. My single playcheck found no evidence of any groove/playwear, ticks, pops or any other audible distractions

Cover: EXCELLENT +

Impossible to find in any condition, this superb example bears very light wear only and would be tough to upgrade

The front panel retains an unscratched & unrubbed high-gloss laminate, free from any 'thumbnail' wrinkles or other significant wear

The all-important black 'stereo' indicator is bold & unworn

There is a touch of shelfwear to the corner tips but both opening edges are sharp and unworn. The rear panel has a small blemish on the spine flipback and two smaller spots on John's face but is otherwise clean and more importantly, bright white

Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is fully worded and undamaged

Inner-sleeve: NEAR MINT
