Background...

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Released on 26 May 1967,[nb 1] Sgt. Pepper is regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the roles of sound composition, extended form, psychedelic imagery, record sleeves, and the producer in popular music. The album had an immediate cross-generational impact and was associated with numerous touchstones of the era's youth culture, such as fashion, drugs, mysticism, and a sense of optimism and empowerment. Critics lauded the album for its innovations in songwriting, production and graphic design, for bridging a cultural divide between popular music and high art, and for reflecting the interests of contemporary youth and the counterculture.

AUDIO. EXCELLENT.

Light surface noise on intro to side 1, and a couple of minor ‘clicks’ into the first track. Other than that, excellent, with just very occasional light ‘pop’ and ‘crackle’.

Side 2 likewise re the intro, and into the first 20/30 seconds of ‘Within You Without You’.

Again, other than that, excellent, with just a couple of light ‘pops’ during ‘Good Morning’ and ‘Day In The Life’.

VINYL APPEARANCE. VG+

The vinyl is in VG+ condition. It has a glossy sheen and sits completely flat with no warping. There are a couple of light surface marks/hairlines/handling marks, but nothing of significance/feelable.

SLEEVE. VG. WIDE SPINE

The outer GATEFOLD cover is in VG condition, with some discolouration/marks to the top corners, and a little more ware to bottom corners. The bottom and top left corners from the front view are most adversely affected (see photos) and of course displays the Saught after "WIDE SPINE", that has a couple of creases/scuffs across ‘Peppers Lonely’.

Front and rear panels have some minor creasing, and the right panel opening has a little feathering. The inner panels are clean, shiny, and unmarked. There’s some barely visible indented lettering above the lyrics near the top edge.

CUT-OUTS. NEAR MINT

The original dark green 'Peter Blake' cutouts outs are near mint, with just extremely minor corner ware.

‘FOOL’ INNER. VG

The original red & white 'Fool's Swirl' inner is VG. Has great colour and the correct patent number. Sadly, there are seam splits to bottom and sides, (see photos) though no rips or tares.

OVERALL, A RARE FIND, IN OVERALL VG+ CONDITION, AS THE AUDIO IS EXCELLENT.
