In this auction:

• “THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM” LP by The Beatles

• This LP is Capitol Records ST 2080.

• The vinyl comes in a Capitol-marked cover on front, rear, and spine.

• This is a STEREO Pressing.

• This LP was issued in 1964.

• This LP with COVER constructed of cardboard with cover slick pasted on, was issued from Capitol Records’ Scranton pressing plant. This is based on the number “3” printed at the lower right corner of the rear cover.

• The VINYL has a triangle (?) containing the letters “IAM” in the trail-off. This is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant.

• THEREFORE, this cover and vinyl are correctly paired (as they were issued) from the same Capitol pressing plant.

• NOTE: Some sellers may intentionally or accidentally switch vinyl and covers in order to create an LP with a nicer grade cover and vinyl, but NOT correctly matched to the same pressing plant. I don’t do that. This is the correct cover and vinyl for this pressing/issue.

• The record in this auction has the RARE LABEL VARIATION. The second song on Side 2, “I CALL YOUR NAME”, is MISSPELLED/MISSPRINTED. It is printed as “I CALL YOU NAME”. This song is also credited to BMI and has NO Running Time. Check your Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels and you will see how this RARE label variation has a much higher value when compared to other stereo pressings of this LP. Cox/Daniels identify this variation as CAP2080.SR3(i).

• The COVER is in VG+ CONDITION. There is light/minimal overall wear on this off-white (light-colored) cover. The reverse is quite clean aside from some light aging/foxing. (Check Images). There is some light cracking on the spine with a little bit of paper loss (about ½ inch or less) near the top of the spine. The corners at the top and bottom of the spine show some “balding”. Top and bottom seams are nice and strong. There are NO TEARS, NO SEAM SPLITS, NO WRITING and NO RING WEAR on this cover.

• The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG CONDITION. There are some very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs. Only a slightly “feel-able” scuff on Side 1, Track 2 (on “Thank You Girl”) keeps me from grading the vinyl VG+. I listened to this track. Since it is a loud track with no quiet moments, the very weak “pop” is not significant or distracting. It can be heard in the silent transition to Track 3 where it fades out. There is NO SKIP, and on my Technics turntable, I track at ½ gram. There is also a VERY SMALL and SLIGHT edge-warp that does NOT affect play at all. In fact, it’s only slightly visible when playing Side 2 and not really visible at all when playing Side 1. (NOT TO WORRY! It’s not a big deal but as “anal” as I am, I wanted to mention it.) The VINYL HAS LOTS OF GLOSS.

• This LP comes with its BLUE CAPITOL RECORDS INNER PAPER SLEEVE (with NO splits) which I believe is the correct sleeve for this Capitol vinyl issue.

Check your own copy of "The Beatles Second Album". Most likely you will find that it has the correct song title "I Call Your Name", NOT "I Call You Name".
