Description

WARNING! International bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding for postage costs. I will only ship to Europe and Worldwide via International “signed for” airmail and this can be very expensive.

OK, having got that bit of business out of the way, welcome!

You are bidding on a 12” vinyl LP of The Beatles album - Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Some would argue the greatest album of all time. Certainly one of the most iconic albums.

This is from my own personal collection. It’s time to make some space so sadly I am selling my vinyl collection. Please check out my other items for sale and there are many more to follow, so keep checking back.

Please read the condition of the item carefully below before bidding. Unlike many people selling vinyl on eBay I play every track of every album before listing it. It’s very time consuming, but means I can give an accurate description and an honest opinion of condition. I do not accept returns, in saying that if you receive an album and you feel I have made a genuine mistake and missed a blatant defect, do please contact me.

I am not a record dealer and I am not an expert at grading records. I will give as much     information as possible to assist in identifying particular albums.

DESCRIPTION

Tracks:

Side 1 –  Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A Little Help From My Friends : Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds : Getting Better : Fixing A Hole : She's Leaving Home : Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite

Side 2 - Within You Without You : When I'm Sixty Four : Lovely Rita : Good Morning, Good Morning : Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) : A Day In The Life.

For the vinyl collectors looking in, the following information is available:

Label: Parlophone. (1 boxed llogo on label).  EMI. (2 boxed logos on label). From checking other listing this is apparently important to collectors.

Year: 1967

Catalogue No: PCS 7027

Additional Matrix number information: There appear to be 2 numbers on each side. Side 1 - YEX 637-1 and M6 297254 1 and Side 2 - YEX 638-2 and M6 297255 1

I have no idea how early this pressing is. No doubt those numbers will mean something to the collectors.

CONDITION

Record: (Visually) Both labels clean. Small splits arouns spindle hole. Vinyl has some light finger marking. A few light surface marks, but no deep looking scratches.(Playing) I have played the whole album through.  I would have played this album a fair bit, back "in the day" so it has obviously had some wear, but audio quality still sounds good to me. There are no jumps, skips or sticking. I wasn't aware of and loud surface noise. Any low level surface noise certainly wasn't obtrusive. As regards "clicks" there were a couple of clicks just before the very first track, on the run in, but none when the track started. I heard some clicks at the end of With a Little Help From My Friends and just into the start of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. I didn't count them, but I reckon about 7 or 8 in total. You can definitely hear them, so I have to mention them, but personally I didn't find them overly loud. I didn't hear any other clicks on side 1. On side 2 I heard only 3 or 4  faint clicks (quieter than the ones on side 1) in Within You Without You. I didn't hear any other clicks. So all in all a very good listen with two small areas of clicking. Obviously if you are looking for a mint condition playing Sgt Pepper, this one is not for you, but if you want a respectable listening copy and don't mind a couple of small areas of clicking, at a reasonable cost then this might be the one.

Cover: Gatefold. Laminated. Front and back. Some minor indentations and creasing in the laminate. Some wear to corners. Top and bottom edges all intact with very little sign of wear. The spine has some signs of wear. There are two areas, each about 1" where the opening and closing of the gatefold over the years has caused some wear. One of the areasit has caused a minor split, probably through the outer layer of card, but not all the way through. Most of the spine text id still clear and readable, but some of "Club Band" is missing due to the wear. I think I wrote my name inside the gatefold (slap my wrist!) at some point. It has gone now as it was on the laminate, but there is some indentation as a result. A couple of minor marks near edge, but otherwise very clean.

Inner sleeve: White paper. Some discolouring through age and a 4cm split at the bottom.

Extras: There is no insert with this album.

Compared with how others grade LP’s on eBay I would say this is VGC. as regards the vinyl and VGC- as regards the cover.

This isn’t a “mint” album, but it is still a respectable looking and playing album.

If you would  like any further information regarding this  item, please feel free to ask and I  will do my best to answer your  questions.

Describing the condition of items is very subjective. (one man’s treasure is another man’s junk etc). I will always try to be as honest as possible in describing the items. I would rather be honest from the outset, than end up with a disappointed winning bidder. I buy things on eBay as well and would expect the same honesty from others.

There is no reserve on this item.

POSTAGE

Items will be dispatched by Royal Mail First Class post. I will obtain a receipt for postage, but cannot accept responsibility for items not delivered. If   my  starting bid is over £20.00 I  will include a postage price that will cover  for  "Signed   For" postage (this  insures for up  to £50) and if the starting bid  or final  bid is over £50 I will  send via Special Delivery which I believe  insures for up to £500.00.

All albums are dispatched in sturdy cardboard mailers with additional stiffeners, to ensure safe arrival. The cost of this packaging is included in the postage price.
