Description

In 1964, as The Beatles singles were flying off the shelves in Japan on the Odeon label, Polydor Japan decided to capitalise on this success by piggybacking with some Beatles music that they held the rights to. In their Hamburg days, the Beatles had performed as support backing for Tony Sheridan at a recording for Polydor. These two songs arose from that recording. So rushed were the Japanese to get the single out on the streets that they ended up misspelling My Bonnie as My Bonie on the sleeve (see photos) and issued a cover pic that was somewhat bizarre in the circumstances, of the band in Paris with Ringo in the picture. Of course, in Hamburg, Pete Best was still on drums and Ringo was a long way off joining the band. Nowadays, this is a rare and hard to find single, especially with the spelling error (limited to the first two rapid pressings). This is the first pressing and comes with the original colourful Polydor inner sleeve as well.
