The Beatles - "The Beatles" A.K.A The White Album

Stamped No 0042454

UK Apple LP

This double Mono LP is a first pressing from 1968 and is stamped / embossed with number of 0042454 (anything under 100,000 is considered low) and is complete with photos and insert.

Catalogue Number: PMC 7067 / 7068

Matrix Numbers: XEX 709 - 1 / XEX 710 - 1 / XEX 711 - 1 / XEX 712 - 1

Mother & stampers numbers: Side 1 = 5 & PT / Side 2 = 7 & GT / Side 3 = 1 & RA / Side 4 = 4 & OD

Sleeve: The 'top loader' gatefold sleeve was made / printed in the UK by Garrod & Lofthouse and is laminated with internal flipbacks. It is embossed with the number 0042454. Given the age of the item, there has been some discoloration of the sleeve. There are no cardboard / paper splits on the spine or seams, though some of the laminate has cracked on the spine and shows some wear. The spine is fully readable. On both sides of the outer sleeves there are general wear & tear, creases, minor scratches and some record impression. The inside of the gatefold is in very good condition and has a creamy colour, the centre hinge fold is fully laminated and uncracked. Overall the condition of the sleeve is good to very good.

Inners: Both records are held in their original black die cut inner sleeves, condition is good, there are no splits on the edges, but both have 2 small splits in the middle of the sleeves.

Vinyl LP's: The mono mix has vocals / sounds quite different to the stereo one. To anyone not used to hearing this Mono version, you will be pleasantly surprised by how good certain tracks sound. The labels are printed with 'Sold in U.K subject to resale conditions...'. There is no 'E.M.I Recording' on any of the labels. There are some spindlemarks but no damage around the hole, the condition of each label is excellent. Overall, these records play fine and have retained their shine, I have checked each disc as follows:

Sides 1 & 2 = There is some static on both sides, but audio sounds good, inparticular tracks like Blackbird play well and sound excellent for a record of this age. However there is one small jump on side 1 track 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' and an audible slight scratch on side 2 'Don't Pass Me By'.  There are some visable surface marks & light scratches but apart from those stated, nothing that affects playback. Overall condition is good (only because of the 2 flaws).

Side 3 & 4 = Both sides have some static during playback. Otherwise, the audio is very good. There are no obvious scratches or jumps during playback. There are some visable surface marks and light scratches, though nothing to affect playback. Overall condition is very good.

Photos: The four portrait photos are in excellent condition and are unmounted.

Poster: This folds out to a large poster ('Lipstick') on one side & lyrics on the other. The poster has not been mounted and there is some wear & tear. There condition is very good & there are no splits on the poster folds.
