The cover is in excellent condition, and the vinyl is in pristine condition, except for 1 scratch on one song. I am very anal about my vinyl records and look after them with meticulous care, so I can guarantee the condition to be pristine, they are well looked after and much loved, so much so I’ve even branded my name on each one as a sign of approved quality.

Why Vinyl?

Who’s ever played their favorite album, placing the needle gently on the record as it spins around, there is a brief crackle as the needle finds the groove and you step back as the first song starts and fill your ears, no matter what type of music you love, it will change your mood like no other.

Vinyl records are making a comeback, why? it’s because the sound has and always will be a true and faithful copy from the original source. The argument has been going on since the introduction of CD’s in the 80’s, with both sides having valid points of view.

I am well and truly siding for the vinyl, simply because music is rhythmic and organic sound, all sound is made from vibrations, which are called “sound waves” and when a vinyl record is cut it’s these vibrations or sound waves that are captured and engraved into the master without losing any of the original sound integrity.

When you’re listening to a record on your stereo, the sound waves are fed directly to your amplifier without conversion; it then raises the voltage of the signal to an electric current that drives the speakers.


Technical Stuff

If you digitally reproduce a sound wave converting it from analogue to digital through CD production, it often can mash up some of the sounds, this is illustrated in the following graphic. The in between tones are filled in, a bit like pixilation of an image.



Now I don’t want to bore you with all sorts of technical information, but I have a keen ear for sound and to me the most pure sound is vinyl. Unfortunately most people can’t tell the difference in sound quality between vinyl or CD, except of course if the vinyl is dusty or scratched you’ll probably hear pops and cracks in quiet parts of a song. When you buy a record from my store it will be as close to the original as possible, as good as the day it was first purchased.

I remember when CDs first launched onto the market, there was an ad on the radio, with a guy talking about a baby playing with a new CD, the sound effect of a cooing baby drooling over this CD, chomping on it, having a great time, and the voice over guy saying try doing that with your records. It was a very effective ad at the time, but what they failed to tell us was CDs do get scratched too, in some cases easier than records. The point is you have to take care of your vinyl, records can last a lifetime, if you take care of them, not many things these days will offer you that.
