Description
Here is an rare transition label edition of "The Beatles VI"
This scarce Capitol color band West Coast (L.A.--#6--* in dead wax) features the titles of the first two tracks on Side 1 and Side 2 located above the spindle hole!
Here is the story: The first series of labels printed for "Beatles VI" list the publishing credits for all songs as BMI except for "Words Of Love" which is listed as ASCAP. The revised labels list all songs as BMI including "Words Of Love."
However, on the revised West Coast (L.A. ) pressings the first track on each side (Side 1--"Kansas City"** Side 2--"What You're Doing") were printed ABOVE the spindle hole.
Renown Beatles expert Bruce Spizer did not have this variation listed in his wonderful "The Beatles Capitol Albums" book. This rare variation was listed in his later "The Beatles Swan Song" book.
