The Beatles. WITH THE BEATLES. PMC 1206 Mono DECCA Contract Pressed.
I am offering for sale the Beatles second album pressed by the DECCA Record Company. This unusual development was due to the overwhelming demand for this album in the run up to Christmas 1963. The EMI presses were unable to keep up with demand, so they turned to rival DECCA and contracted them to press up a quantity to maintain supply for the unprecedented demand.
These DECCA pressings differ from the regular EMI pressings by the central boss that is evident on the label. This is an indented ridge approx 15mm from the label perimeter. Due to confidentiality agreements, no quantities of DECCA pressings has ever made its way into the public domain, but it can't be many as they do not turn up that frequently.
My particular copy is in very fine condition. The vinyl is overall EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT Plus, a few very light marks prevent it from being graded Mint. The labels are the same, very little handling marks, if any.
The album has been pressed on the XEX 447-7N and 448-7N matrix numbers.
The Garrod and Lofhouse sleeve is in very clean EXCELLENT condition.
These DECCA pressed versions probably make up less than 5% of the total pressing for this album, so they are really unusual and collectible.
