Description
An original 1st press of the WHITE ALBUM and would have been available for sale in November 1968. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Stampers 5PT/3RL/1GGL/2GGL. Please note the labels exhibit the 'Sold In The UK..' statement and that singles this LP out as a genuine 1st press from the time of release. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in a top-loading original Garrod & Lofthouse wide-spine numbered cover..."0121222". Also included is the poster/lyric sheet, the four original high quality photos, and both black Apple inner sleeves. So, this example is 100% genuine and 100% complete...and even better it is the best preserved copy I've ever seen..by some margin. Truly a one-off in my opinion.
Vinyl (Ex+/Ex+/Ex+/Ex+) In stunning condition and I have yet to see four sides of the white album look quite this pristine. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks either side - the sought that are so insignificant they really are not going to feature audibly at all. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Now, don't underestimate a grading like this...This is not a throw away Ex+...this is proper grading with NO HYPE. A grading at this level is almost impossible to find on an original white album. We are effectively saying it is close to perfect all the way through. Take a look at those label shots - this is a very very low-mileage copy and it shows. The audio on this copy just cannot be beaten - it is a perfect final upgrade. Beautiful tonal balance and incredible transparency. I'm pleased to report that interference is practically non-existent. All we could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of spots [literally] ...e.g. the first couple of seconds of 'Martha'. Then nothing but pure unadulterated EMI mono of the highest standard. Many tracks on the White Album are very low-key acoustic numbers and even light static can influence the audio. NOT HERE - there's literally nothing there behind the sound. It is simply the cleanest copy I've ever heard.
Cover (Ex+) Wowzers..how often do you seen an original white album cover looking this good? Most are showing some form of ageing, but this copy has clearly been kept out of the light. It is pretty much pristine front and back and that is very very unusual. Edge wear is reasonably light and that wide-spine is in very nice condition with no issues at all and all text still visible. The interior is in lovely condition too - just a light crease in the centre of the left page, but minor in nature. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and it is difficult to imagine going any better than this example.
Lyric/poster (Ex) Excellent condition. No splits or ageing. Nothing beyond the lightest handling.
Photos (Ex/Ex+) Pretty much perfect bar Ringo which has a touch of surface wear [minor].
Inners (Ex/Ex-) Both in great shape. One has no splits. The other one 2 inch side split.
