Description
This auction is for an original vinyl early edition of The Beatles’ White Album. The recording is on the Apple label, P 1968, in stereo, and the sides are numbered YEX-09, -10, -11, -12.
I understand from a bit of homework that only the early ones opened at the top of the sleeve, as this does, rather than at the side; there would originally have been a black inner sleeve on each of the two records, but unfortunately one of them is missing.
The entire outer cover is ivory-white and laminated, with The BEATLES embossed in small lettering on the front, and a stamped-on serial number: No. 0402877. There is some very minor wear around the edges due to age, but nothing to spoil the overall appearance. Opening the cover out, you will see a track listing and some printing information in grey, and four small black and white pictures of John, Paul, George and Ringo. Tucked in with one of the records is a folded-up poster which opens out to show various Beatles pictures on one side and lyrics and information on the other, and also four separate, large, colour versions of the four pictures mentioned before, as shown in my picture. All these items are in good condition.
As for the condition of the actual records, I was told when I acquired this album from my Dad that there was a little fault on the first side (not a jump – just a blip that didn’t interrupt the music), but I have never been able to find it – it plays fine as far as my record player is concerned! Overall, the entire thing is in good condition for its age, and you may find it an interesting piece of memorabilia as well as a brilliant album.
Please have a look at our other items - if you win more than one we will happily combine postage wherever possible. I'm sending this one recorded as it's old and lovely! We will of course pack everything as carefully as we can in cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. You are welcome to collect if you prefer; if you're actually in the Lowestoft area we could deliver to you if you'll wait for the next available weekend.
PLEASE NOTE: I have listed to the UK only as I have had a couple of bad experiences with things going abroad and not being handled well once they leave the Royal Mail's care. However, if you are seeing this from outside the UK and want to bid I will not refuse you, but do contact me to confirm postage to wherever you are.
