Description
The Beatles - The Beatles (White Album) - UK Apple Records PMC 7067 1st pressing with numbered (0157915) top-opening wide-spine gatefold sleeve, and "Sold in UK" text on all four labels.
Matrix Nos and stampers: Side 1: XEX 709-1 (4 MM) Side 2: XEX 710-1 (7 PO) Side 3: XEX 711-1 (2 T) Side 4: XEX 712-1 (4 PR)
Condition: COVER: The fully laminated, wide-spine, embossed, numbered and top-opening 1st press sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition with no rips, tears or writing, and a still readable spine. There is some laminate cracking on the wide-spine and a small brownish stain (about 3x2cm) on the bottom left corner which feeds through onto the back of the sleeve and into the inside gatefold. The seams and internal flipbacks are all intact and the opening top edges show only light wear. The sleeve has yellowed slightly over the years but is still perfectly flat and virtually uncreased and retains a good sheen both outside and inside. Not perfect, but still a very nice example of this fragile 45-year-old sleeve. VINYL: Side 1: Has a a number of light hairlines and small scratches but still retains a nice sheen. It is used, but not abused and must grade VERY GOOD. Side 2: Has a a number of light hairlines and small scratches but still retains a nice sheen. It is used, but not abused and must grade VERY GOOD Side 3: Has two or three light hairlines and a number of ultra-light marks, which can only be seen in angled light. Again, used, but not abused and must grade VERY GOOD PLUS. Side 4: Has a handful of ultra-light marks but still retains a really nice sheen. It must grade at least VERY GOOD PLUS. Both records lie perfectly flat on the turntable. LABELS: All four labels are in EXCELLENT condition with the only visible faults being a handful of light spindle trails. INNER SLEEVEs: The original black, die-cut inner sleeves are in VERY GOOD PLUS condition with no rips, writing or seam splits, just light creasing commensurate with age. EXTRAS: The four photos are all in EXCELLENT unmarked condition. The original photo spacer is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition with a crease to one corner. The poster is in VERY GOOD condition with no rips or writing. There are a couple of small patches of staining and a pin-sized hole has appeared on one of the centre folds. AUDIO: The record plays at least VERY GOOD PLUS from start to finish with no skips, jumps or signs of groovewear and only ultra-minimal background noise even between tracks. There are a few pops and ticks here and there, but nothing repetitive and nothing to spoil the enjoyment.
So, not by any means a perfect copy, but a rare very first mono press that is totally complete (including the often missing photo spacer) and which still plays great.
