Description
The Beatles White Album from 1968, unarguably one of the most iconic pop records of the 20th Century. This is the rare UK export only all analogue stereo pressing from 1978 on WHITE VINYL. Cut by Harry Moss at Abbey Road studios on the newly installed Neuman lathe, this is generally agreed to be one of the best sounding stereo White Albums pressed by EMI. This copy is in near mint condition throughout. I have played it and it does sound superb. Is it rare? Well not unobtainable but check out the listings on ebay and see how many there are compared to first pressings from 68, let alone in this condition. There are a number of 'white vinyl' White Albums out there but this is the real deal - 1978 UK EMI pressing.
Details - Spine says stereo PCS 7067-8 mono PMC 7067-8 but the records are of course stereo from 78. Dead wax reads: YEX-709/YEX-710/YEX711/YEX712. Difficult to give a visual assessment of condition of white vinyl but all four sides look near perfect. More importantly they play near mint. Labels are near mint. These records have been played only a handful of times at most. There is a pressing flaw with the first vinyl where for a short part of the circumference the fill has not gone right to the edge (have tried to photograph it). I have seen this before on another copy of this edition but seeing as I have only ever seen two copies close up can't say if this slight defect is common or not... I call it slight because this defect is entirely visual and does not affect play, lead in groove etc at all. Therefore has no audio consequence at all.
These special UK editions for export only from 1978 came with plain white die cut inners. Both are in excellent shape if somewhat creased. Photos of the Beatles and the poster - absolutely nothing wrong with them.
Now the cover... I would grade this as Excellent+. It has a couple of very minor flaws, reason being White Album covers from 68-78 are virtually impossible to find in perfect condition. These ones for 78 export were laminated as were earlier pressings. Over time there is a reaction between the laminate and the cover leading to a gradual yellowing effect. This one has yellowed a little but is still in superb condition, embossed 'The Beatles' and spine text are perfect, couple of tiny marks here and there and a faint shadow of ring wear. Finally there is a tiny ding to one of the corners. I am being hyper-critical here.. just want to give you all the information.
Rare opportunity to add this famous edition of the White Album to your Beatles collection. Looks awesome on the turntable.
Low start price for this rare record set. Good luck!
