Description

This is a very early pressing of the self titled Beatles album (aka The White Album), with the top opening, wide spined sleeve. It is numbered 0449104. It is the stereo version, with the word stereo printed small at the top of the back sleeve (see photo).

The album has its original inserts - 4 near mint colour photos of each group member (with the original dust cover), and the original poster/songsheet which is in excellent+ condition. The inner sleeves are the original charcoal ones. One is in excellent condition. The other has 2 tears from the centre hole which I have shown on a photo.

The album is out of my personal collection. I purchased it new in 1968 and so can vouch for its authenticity entirely. I have played through every track just before putting it on ebay and can confirm each one sounds as good as the day I bought it (probably better, as I have better decks and speakers now!).

I have recently found out that this record has a rare feature. Most of the early stereo versions of the White Album had the words "An EMI recording" typed on the centre labels of all 4 sides. This version does not bear the logo on sides 1 and 2.

CONDITION

Using the guide you will all be familiar with, I have graded each record separately:

RECORD 1 SIDE 1 The vinyl is in Very Good ++ condition with very minor sleeve abrasion and light spindle wear. The centre label is clean and bright (see photo). It has matrix code YEX 709-1.

RECORD 1 SIDE 2 The vinyl is in Very Good condition with some fine hairline marks that do not affect play and light spindle wear. The centre label is clean and bright (see photo). It has matrx code YEX 710-1.

RECORD 2 SIDE 3 The vinyl is in Excellent+ condition with hardly any visible abrasions. The centre label is clean and bright, with some light spindle wear (see photo). It has matrix code YEX 711-1.

RECORD 2 SIDE 4 The vinyl is in Good condition with a few visible hairline marks and a couple of very small scratches. I have fully tested this side and the marks do not affect play - the are no pops, crackles or jumps and the audio quality remains excellent. The centre lable is clean and bright, with light spindle marks (see photo). It has matrix code YEX 712-2.

I have tried to be as honest as possible about the gradings and may well have under-scored compared to a few other examples I've had a look at on this site. I am happy to provide any additional photos if you contact me.
