The Beatles: With The Beatles Decca Contract Press. Vinyl & Sleeve VG+.
PLAY TESTED ON MINDAY FEBRUARY 28TH
The audio experience is superb/excellent, perhaps near mint, though I’m loathe to go that far, as I tend to be quite conservative with my gradings, but trust me, you will not be disappointed.
It has obviously been extremely well cared for, as it should be, and I myself was surprised at the quality on playback. It plays far better than in looks, though in truth the disc only has minor marks/hairlines.
Side 1.
No skips, jumps, or hops.
Very little surface noise on run in.
Tiny amounts of static into tracks 3 and 4.
2 or 3 light crackles before track 6, and on run out/run in to track 7.
Side2.
No skips, jumps or hops.
Again, very little surface noise on intro.
Again, some very light static on intro.
Track 3 has a few has a click about 10 seconds in.
Track 4 has light clicks on intro.
The above are literally the only other sounds you’ll hear on the entirety of the disc.
The audio quality really is stunningly good.
This is the rarer Decca contract pressing, second label variation, G&L front laminated cover, with large Mono on sleeve front.
Capitalised ‘THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD’ rim text; recording first published 1963, with Dominion/Belinda credit for Money.
This also comes with an original Tracing-paper lined Emitex die-cut inner sleeves.
Some of the distinguishing characteristics of Decca Beatles contract pressing are:
1) No tax code on dead wax either side, or at the ‘12’ ‘O’ ‘Clock’ position.
2) Light ridge 5mm out from centre.
3) A prominent groove 15mm from label edge.
4) Matrix number stamped at ‘6’ ‘O’ ‘Clock’ position.

At ‘9’ ‘O’ ‘Clock’: 3

At ‘9’ ‘O’ ‘Clock’: 27
The vinyl is VG+ to both sides; some visible marks/hairlines, but most only visible under angled light. No heavy/feelable scratches.
Labels are also minimum VG+. Clean/bright, with just a small number of spindle marks, and a little bit of ware to the centre hole.
Sleeve is again VG+ minimum, and perhaps closer to excellent. No rips/tares, graffiti, with just a small amount of creasing.
Sleeve spine is excellent. Very little/barely visible creasing/marks. Clearly legible. Very little shelf ware at all.
Original Emitex inner has small seem split to side (easily repairable).
