Description
I am beginning to put up for auction some duplicate Beatles’ Capitol Record Club LPs from my collection , so please check my other current auctions and upcoming auctions for more Beatles’ Capitol Record Club LPs.
In this auction:
· “YESTERDAY… and TODAY” by The Beatles
· This is Capitol Records ST- 8-2553.
· This is a STEREO LP.
· This LP is a RARE CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSING. It has an “8” in front of the normal catalog number and “Manufactured under license” printed on the labels.
· This GREEN LABEL CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSING was issued 1969 - 1971.
· Initial record club covers have a white border like the regular Capitol cover and 3 black bars on the top left seam.
· The Beatles’ CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSINGS have become VERY SOUGHT AFTER for their RARITY due to the very limited quantities pressed. You had to be a member of the record club to originally buy and have this LP shipped to you!! You could not walk into a record store in 1969 to 1971 and purchase this Record Club Pressing off the rack!
· The 3 black bars and the catalog number ST-8-2553 printed at the top right corner on the rear cover identifies this Cover to be the RECORD CLUB COVER issued for this vinyl pressing. (Please check the images.)
· The Record Club Issue of this LP has become a tough pressing to find now.
· The COVER is in VG MINUS to WEAK VG CONDITION. The cover overall has moderate to more-than-moderate wear with more wear on the rear than the front. There is a sticker stain on the front cover beside the word “Yesterday”. There is clear tape on the top seam the full-length of the seam that was applied to control a 2 ½ -inch split at top center of the seam and a 2-inch split on the top seam near the opening. There is also clear tape on the bottom seam the full-length of the seam that was applied to control a 2-inch split at bottom center of the seam and near the opening. The corners are “bald” and there is some “feathering”. There are corner pushes on the corners at the base and top of the spine. The rear cover has moderate circular ring wear. There is a small tear on the rear cover at the top left corner at the opening. This is a # 16 (Jacksonville Pressing Plant) cover.
· The VINYL is in STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION. There are some light surface hairlines/scuffs but still lots of gloss. The Side 2 label has a small bit of paper loss along an inner circular vinyl pressing ridge which sometimes occurs when the label is not completely adhered to the vinyl.
· Note that the UNIQUE RECORD CLUB CATALOG NUMBER ST 8-2553 IS PRINTED ON BOTH LABELS.
