Original 1st West Coast, Capitol Records, Los Angeles, pressing plant Mono issue released on June 14 ,1966. This currently listed copy is one of few recalled 1st State Butcher covers by Capitol Records, after the scandal related to the initial cover design, with the new front paste over slick being affixed on the top of the original artwork. Nevertheless, in spite of the changes the cover went through, some of the details of the original “Butcher” cover are visible through the paste over slick, which include not only Ringo’s V-neck of his black sweater, but also his white butcher coat, the silhouette of his head as well as his black pants at the bottom right corner. The copy is in pristine Mint Minus factory sealed condition with the fully intact shrink wrap containing two original breathe holes on each side of the album. The top right corner of the front cover contains a “Sears” store sticker. Considering that this copy was pressed at the Capitol Records, Los Angeles plant as identified by the RIAA “6” on the back cover and that the collector who owned the album also lived in Los Angeles, we assume that he acquired it at the Sears store located at 12121 Victory Blvd in North Hollywood. The album comes with the vintage copies of the memos from the Capitol Records national distribution manager, Joe Sobeck, and the Press & Information Services manager, Ron Tepper, as well as an article from The Boston Globe dated Saturday, June 25, 1966 which goes into details about the situation with the controversial cover and its aftermath.

The album is graded as Mint Minus. These are pretty insignificant in terms of the overall condition of the album but the bottom right corner has a slight ding and the back cover has a couple of tiny and barely noticeable age discoloration spots. Aside from that, this factory sealed copy is in stunning condition.
