Description

This is where it all started after George Martin first saw and heard the Beatles for Parlophone and had a gut feeling their raw talent held promise and potential. Probably one of the best calls in the music industry!
First off, these singles are not in the best shape which normally I wouldn't list but I'm doing so because of their importance, rarity and value to a completist collector or afficionado. Here we go then.....
1962 Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You on Parlophone 45-R 4949. First pressing with 'Made In Gt. Britain' credit on both of the red labels. The matrix stamps on the dead wax run-offs are 7XCE 17144 -1N and 7XCE 17145 -1N for sides 1 and 2 respectively which reportedly is the take with Ringo on drums (i.e. not the session drummer for which Ringo never truly forgave George Martin!) and no tambourine. And comes in the original Type A sleeve.
1963 Please Please Me / Ask Me Why on Parlophone 45-R 4983. First pressing with no 'Made In Gt. Britain' credit on either of the red labels. The matrix stamps on the dead wax run-offs are 7XCE 17217 -1N and 7XCE 17218 -1N for sides 1 and 2 respectively. Again it comes with the original Type A sleeve.
So, condition. The sleeves have some seam splits, are creased and one has a price sticker tear on both sides.
The labels show the original owners name (Eve) via pen or label tear residue.
Both the discs have a hint of dishing and Please Please Me has a slight warp.
The playing surfaces show multiple light scratches, hairlines and scuffs. Visually I would rate them 3 /10 for condition. I have no means of play testing 45s but I reckon they are still worthy of a spin.
But heck, I'm starting the listing at 99p with free UK postage and subsidised to anywhere else so they're more than worthy of a punt.
Auction will run to the end.
