The Beatles vinyl lp Rubber Soul Mono PMC1267 Loud Cut
Mono very first pressings can be recognised by the matrix numbers ending with "-1", This is generally referred to as the "Loud" cut.
This was a mix that was discontinued after a very brief pressing run, when it was realised it was tonally unbalanced.
It lacks body, has a muddled bass, with vocals stretched thin making it sound aggresive and edgy (hence, "loud").
Matrix XEX579-1 / XEX580-1
Vinyl is Side 1 is Very Good+ / Side 2 is Very Good. The vinyl is quite glossy with a couple of small marks. I have listened to this in full to grade it. You can listen to an unedited recording of Side 1. On Side 1 there are some pops on Drive My Car and Norwegian Wood. On Side 2 there are a few ticks but these are light and short.
Garrod and Lofthouse flipback sleeve is Good-. Small tear on flipback on rear - see photo. Initials written in pen - see photo. Creases. Inner sleeve is Emitex polylined inner sleeve which is Fair (torn on edges). I'll add a new paper inner sleeve.
Summary:- Loud cut pressing which is in a pleasant listenable condition..................very reasonable starting price with only £3.25 P&P to UK.
This has been cleaned on a Okki Nokki RCM FREE for the buyer.
Grading system used:-
Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever.
Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or
defaced.
Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
