Description
Very cool Little Walter LP from 1967 that rarely turns up for sale. Killer Chess pure mono pressing and sound on this with heavy vinyl (about 180 grams) platter. Cover is a slight variation from the super pricey 1957 Chess LP 1428 with the same classic Don Bronstein photo with different lettering than the Chess LP. The cover also has a light blue tint rather than black like the original. Same back cover liner notes. This record seems to have been in print for only a short period of time. The run out groove matrix numbers are identical to the mid 1960's Chess issue of this LP when Chess had their blue, white and red labels. I know because I have a copy of both LP's. The matrix numbers are Side One: 8468 and triangle shape 500. Side Two: 8649 and triangle shape 501. Chess was obviously pressing the same LP for both the Chess and Checker variant or was using leftover Chess pressings for the Checker LP. Vinyl is super clean. Nice glossy finish and only two or three hairline scratches. I heard two or three ticks near the end of "Sad Hours," but 95% of the LP is dead quiet. A VG++ rating but really it sounds more like Mint Minus (or Near Mint). No spindle marks. Super rare LP from Chess / Checker.
The cover is very nice overall. A BB sized cut out with metal ring on the upper left front cover. Some slight edge wear and a very small amount of ring wear on the bottom front. Very collectible LP in its own right from Chess LP 1428.
