The Black Windmill - Roy Budd OST

(Cinephile CINCD004). This is the 1999 issue of the classic Roy Budd soundtrack from the 1974 Michael Caine movie. 20 tracks with fold-out inlay card.

Roy Budd is probably best known of his classic score for the film "Get Carter". Music for "Black Windmill" is more dark and symphonic compering to Get Carter's minimalism. When you listen this score it's really no surprise why today's electronica artists are so exited about his work. Groovy drumbeats here often sound like electronic loops and dark and atmospheric orchestration is stunning. The whole album does not stand on it's own so well, there's lots of repeat of the same themes and very short clips but it's worth seeking out if you are interested of Roy Budd's film music
