Description

An original 1st Mono press of Notorious on the UK CBS label. Matrix A1/B1. I'm a big fan of this release by the Byrds, but I'll be damned if I can find a decent copy which does it justice...until I happened upon this copy. The vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover with original CBS advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In great shape and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few light marks and a couple of superficial trails - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Hellishly difficult to find a copy which can deliver what is at times low-key complex passages. But this example, in mono, seems more than up to the task. First thing to note is that it plays surprisingly clean - perhaps that's what I've struggled with before. But this copy allows all those strange swirling sounds and echo effects to permeate without having to fight against background crackles. I'd say this is probably the best copy I've witnessed to date. Lovely clear audio throughout and super warm delivery. You might detect a few light crackles in one isolated spot per side. Other than that expect a total knock-out rendition.
Cover (Ex-) Again, a very fussy cover to find in anything like decent condition. But this example has most certainly been looked after. A lovely clean and uncreased front cover. The rear will usually suffer a lot of surface wear - but on this example it is relatively low-level. Edge wear is slight for this title and the openings are still sharpish. The spine looks ok, but has aged and the 'E' of 'The' is obscured by wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Not much ageing to be observed. A couple of 2 inch edge splits have been taped up.
