Description
- THE CAINE MUTINY. This is a reissue of the original 1954 album. There were about 100 of this reissue done in California. It is unknown as too who actually reproduced this reissue. (The cover of this album is Mint minus, and the record has no blemishes of any kind on the vinyl). In March of 2015 there was an e-mail from an owner of this reissue. The e-mail stated "While this California bootleg edition faithfully recreates the front and rear slicks of the album cover as well as the original green labels for the LP it fails miserably short on re-creating the original soundtrack. The flawless vinyl LOOKS perfect but whoever copied the soundtrack onto this new vinyl allowed all the record skips to be recorded as well. There was no effort to have the recreated sound match the new vinyl, making the owner's experience a most disappointing one. This album is GREAT to look at but is not mint as a listening experience." The story connected with the ORIGINAL ALBUM as best as I could find out was a follows. Please do not hold me to its accuracy. A lawsuit from the estate of Herman Wouk author of the novel resulted in this LP being immediately withdrawn from release since it contained dialogue from the film that was lifted verbatim from the novel. Furthermore, the estate claimed that the rights sold to Columbia Pictures included only film rights and not rights for release on a phonograph record. A few of the original album were released HAROLD BERMONT, 3131 Rockwell Circle, Mundelein, Il 60060. (If the buyer wants insurance there will be an extra insurance charge or if the buyer wants a different mailing such as 1st class that also will incur and extra charge). THIS IS A RARE REISSUED ALBUM. ONLY 4 OR 5 of this album have been sold on EBAY since 2012.
