Description

The Clash – London Calling
1979 UK First Pressing • CBS CLASH 3 • Variant 1 Matrices • Stagger Lee

This is a genuine time-capsule copy of one of the most important albums in rock history — and one of the cleanest, most desirable early UK first pressings you’ll see.

It has the exact Variant 1 matrices that serious collectors want, including the legendary “TRAIN IN VAIN” etched in the runout on Side D (the hidden track not listed on the sleeve or labels).

Plus the rare early back cover credit: “Wrong ’Em Boyo (includes Stagger Lee)” — only found on the very first pressings.

These earliest UK first pressings (especially the Stagger Lee variant) are widely regarded by collectors and reviewers as the best sounding version of London Calling — bigger, punchier, more dynamic and explosive than later represses.

Condition – Outstanding:
Freshly ultrasonically cleaned, the vinyls are glossy and flat. There are a couple of light marks visible under light — totally normal for a 47-year-old record. They play unbelievably well —powerful, dynamic, and sounding absolutely incredible from start to finish.

The gatefold sleeve is near mint for its age. It has been protected from day one in its original clear plastic outer sleeve, which still has the original price sticker attached. This has kept the colours bright, corners sharp, and wear to a minimum. Just light, honest age-related edge rub — no splits, no writing, no heavy ringwear.

Both original printed lyric inner sleeves are present and immaculate — near mint with full artwork and lyrics.

This is the complete early-issue package in exceptional condition: Variant 1, Train In Vain in the dead wax, Stagger Lee credit, and preserved by the original plastic sleeve. A true diamond survivor that stands head and shoulders above most copies currently for sale.

If you want the definitive early pressing of this classic in top condition, this is it. Proper punk rock history.

All photos show the exact item you will receive, with clear close-ups of the matrices, Stagger Lee back cover, original plastic sleeve with price sticker, inners, and vinyl.

Expertly packed and fully tracked shipping. UK and international buyers welcome.
