Released at the end of 1979, London Calling is the album on which The Clash dramatically expanded beyond the boundaries of punk rock. Across four sides, the band blended punk, reggae, ska, rockabilly, rhythm and blues, soul and straight-ahead rock into an ambitious double album that remains one of the defining records of its era. The set includes many of the band's best-known songs, including “London Calling,” “Brand New Cadillac,” “Spanish Bombs,” “Lost in the Supermarket,” “Clampdown,” “The Guns of Brixton,” “Death or Glory” and “Train in Vain.”

This copy is a 1980 U.S. Epic pressing with catalog number E2 36328. It includes both printed lyric inner sleeves and has documented dead-wax information on all four sides. Sides 1 and 2 carry early G1A/G1B matrix suffixes, while Sides 3 and 4 carry machine-stamped STERLING mastering marks. Both records have been Ultrasonic cleaned and fully play graded and sound excellent throughout. The combination of strong playback, complete lyric sleeves and fully documented runout information makes this an especially appealing copy for a collector or listener.

Vinyl: VG+
Both records retain strong gloss and present very well. Under bright direct light, there are light sleeve marks, superficial scuffs and other minor cosmetic signs of handling, but no obvious deep scratches are visible. The records have been Ultrasonic cleaned and fully play graded. Playback is excellent throughout, with strong, enjoyable sound across all four sides.

Cover: VG
The jacket retains good original gloss and shows only very faint ring wear. The spine is intact with light rubbing, and the cover has expected corner and edge wear together with several corner creases. The most noticeable creasing is at the lower-right front corner, with additional smaller creases and wear visible around the other corners and edges. Despite these signs of age, the jacket remains structurally sound, attractive and very presentable.

Printed Lyric Inner Sleeves: VG
Both printed lyric inner sleeves are included. They display the album lyrics and period photographs and are an important part of the original presentation. The sleeves show age-related toning, edge wear, creasing and areas of splitting, with tape reinforcement visible in places. Both remain complete and usable. This U.S. Epic issue uses two different mastering/runout configurations across the two records. Sides 1 and 2 have the early G1A and G1B matrix suffixes together with CBS and MKC inscriptions. Sides 3 and 4 have STERLING machine stamps, indicating that those two sides were cut at Sterling Sound. The runout inscriptions are listed below exactly as observed so that buyers can evaluate the pressing for themselves.
