Description

THE CLASH – LONDON CALLING – ORIGINAL 1979 UK 2-LP – CBS CLASH 3

A superb original UK 1979 copy of The Clash – London Calling, one of the defining albums of the punk/new wave era.

This is a verifiable, highly collectable CBS CLASH 3 UK release, with the The Side 4 run-out carrying the famous “TRACK 5 IS ‘TRAIN IN VAIN’” inscription, reflecting the last-minute addition of the song to the album. See pictures.

Vinyl displays the following matrix numbers:

Side 1: CBS S CLASH 3 A3
Side 2: CBS S CLASH 3 B3
Side 3: CL 3 4 A3 / CBS CLASH C3
Side 4: CBS CLASH D3

CONDITION

VINYL – EXCELLENT: Both records are exceptionally clean and appear unscathed. They play beautifully, with excellent sound and have all been tested. It looks like sides 3 and 4 have never been played. Near mint, one feint scratch visible on disc one of the records. As a result all plays perfectly.

Original cbs labels show feint mottling please see pictures.

LYRICS / INNER SLEEVE: Includes the original printed lyric inner sleeve, in excellent condition, plus the separate original lyric sheet. Both are genuine period items and are included with the record. An additional sleeve has been provided, I think to protect the original lyric sleeve. No marks on lyric sheet at all. Please see photos.

OUTER SLEEVE – VERY GOOD: The sleeve is in good overall condition. The spine is particularly good and clearly shows CBS CLASH 3. As per photo.

Please note. There is an old sticker-removal mark/stain to the right-hand corner, which is visible in the photographs and has been taken into account in the price. The name of a previous owner is also inside the sleeve but not visible from the outside.

This is a genuine early UK copy with excellent vinyl, original CBS labels, original lyric material and the desirable early A3/B3/C3/D3 matrices.

A great opportunity for a Clash collector to own an original UK London Calling with exceptionally clean-playing vinyl, rather than one of the many later reissues.

The records will be carefully packaged in a professional LP mailer for safe delivery.

Please study all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
