Description
The Complete Commodore Recordings, Volumes 1-3 - Mosaic. This is the rare, out of print, 66 LP compendium of Commodore recordings released by Mosaic. These sets feature many great artists, include Billie Holiday, Teddy Wilson, Lester Young, Chu Berry, Jelly Roll Morton, Coleman Hawkins, Wild Bill Davison,
Red Norvo, Gene Krupa, Stuff Smith, Don Byas, Mel Powell, Sidney Bechet, Frank Wess, Albert Ammons, Pee Wee Russell, and many others.
I purchased this complete set 10 years ago. Each box set has 23 or 22 LPs. Each box has the LPs are divided into 2 smaller boxes, which fit in the outer box. I examined all the LPs which look Mint- or unplayed. I played the first 11 LPs of Volume 1 which all played M- (no surface noise, ticks, etc.).
The Complete Commodore Recordings Volume 1 - LPs are M-, Outer box is M-/VG++, the outside pages of the inner book are VG++ (see the pictures).
The Complete Commodore Recordings Volume 2 - LPs are M-, Outer box is M-/VG++, the outside pages of the inner book are M- (see the pictures).
The Complete Commodore Recordings Volume 3 - LPs are M-, Outer box is M-/VG++, the outside pages of the inner book are M- (see the pictures).
Bonus: Also included are two Mosaic brochures: Volume 6 and Volume 7. Both these brochures are in the Volume 3 box.
LP GRADING
My vinyl/cd playback system includes a ClearAudio turntable, Rega tonearm, Hana cartridge, Oppo CD/SACD/blu-ray player, VAC pre-amp/phono stage, VAC amp, Triangle speakers, Surpurnal cables, Mapleshade speaker wire.
All of the LPs I sell are from my personal collection. Vinyl is play graded on sound, not looks. Visible marks will be noted. If not sealed, I have played and enjoyed the album. If you are an experienced record collector, I'm sure you will be pleased with my LP's and grading system (please see the 8000+ positive feedbacks from buyers I have received).
M- = Mint Minus. Plays quietly. Either a nearly new recently manufactured LP, or an older LP in excellent condition for its age. Older LP's (30-50 years old) rated M- may have an occasional tick or groove noise.
VG++ = Record may have surface noise or ticks here and there. Many rare/collector LP receive this rating.
VG+ = Some noticeable surface noise, but not so much that record is not enjoyable.
VG = Definitely some major noise or other imperfections, but worth it because the record is so rare.
COVER GRADING
I use a snapshot camera to take pictures of LPs, CDs and DVD/Blu-rays. Often times, light will reflect on vinyl LPs, and LP and CD covers. The reflected light may look like spots which do not actually exist..they are just reflected light. I strive to have accurate and detailed descriptions of the items I sell, noting defects I see. If an LP is rated M-, it will be M-. Please see my eBay feedback rating from Buyers.
M- = Recent albums still look new, and older collector's albums look nearly new..accounting for some small fading or loss of cover gloss. I post pictures of all the albums I'm selling so you can see for yourself.VG++ = Still looks good, but used. Minor imperfections will be noted in listing.
VG+ = Some strong wear. Possibly seam splits and/or taped seams.
VG= Beaten senseless
