Visual assessment: LP is USED, has some paper dust on both sides and some faint hairline scratches, but no serious or feelable scratches.

No writing or stickers on labels. It's hard to see spindle marks on these labels. 

I would play-grade both sides as VG with moderate surface noise in the form of static, light crackle, and there are some 'clicks' in different places, but the record plays well, with the music generally to the forefront. It is also worth noting that the sound on this pressing is far better than on the Spalax reissue LP: there is more bass and also more clarity on this pressing. A professional clean would most likely help to remove the dust in the grooves. No distortion, no 'skips'. There are more 'clicks' on some songs than on others and in the quieter sections one is more aware of such things, but I didn't find this aspect especially distracting. The track which probably has the most 'clicks' is "Interstellar Rock: Kosmische Musik". Overall, a solid play copy, but with imperfections as noted above. Please do not bid if you are a fussy collector looking for a pristine copy! 

Cover:

Grades as "Fair / Acceptable", perhaps slightly better. The main flaws include a cut-out hole: top left-hand corner (please see photograph); corner wear: especially to bottom corners and bottom of the spine; there is edge wear to the bottom seam. There is some ring wear, and markings can be seen on the laminate (back and front) when it is examined closely under bright light. Some brownish markings to top left of the rear of the cover. There is some wear to the opening and some light laminate lift in places. On the plus side, there are no seam splits, and the writing on the spine is perfectly legible. Despite such flaws as mentioned above -- incl. a cut-out hole and wear to the corners and the bottom of the spine -- the cover is still fairly well preserved with no writing and no tears. It shows signs of its age but it is fully functional.

A note on the grading:

Grading is conservative. I don't use "EX" or "VG++" or "EX-".

Vinyl:

Sealed records will be listed as “Sealed”.

If the record appears to be in flawless condition without any defects it will be graded as "Near Mint".

A near perfect, possibly unplayed record.

Any scuffs, scratches or marks and the record will be graded as "VG+". Typically this will mean a lightly played record with minimal and/ or occasional surface noise only.

A better-than-average used record. Play is fairly quiet.

The grading "VG" will be applied to a record which has been played a number of times and plays with some intermittent surface noise in the form of low level or background crackle, 'clicks', 'pops' etc. However, although surface noise is present and is part of the listening experience, it should not overwhelm the music or be too intrusive.

An average used record. Some moderate surface noise.

A record graded as "VG-" will play with surface noise which is distracting or intrusive or 'competing' with the music. It should still however play through without 'skips' or 'jumps' and should still be listenable.

A below-average used record. Not trashed - playable, but somewhat noisy in parts or throughout.

A record graded as “G” will either have ‘skips’ or jumps, sound terribly noisy incl. possible distortion in the vocals and/ or be unplayable. An abused record. Only value is in its rarity or as a ‘placeholder’ copy.

With many records play is variable. This will be reflected in the grading as, for example:

VG-/VG or VG/VG+ or VG-/VG/VG+

Cover:

Like new – pristine –9 or 10 out of 10

Very Good – minor defects only, such as a tiny mark or crease, or a hint of corner wear – will otherwise be almost flawless –7 or 8 out of 10

Good – light wear is evident, but cover still intact, with (for example) legible spine, some shine to laminate, no serious ring wear etc., well preserved  –5 or 6 out of 10

Acceptable/ Fair – far more noticeable wear, incl. ring wear, corner wear, seam splits etc. although cover is still intact, functional –4 out of 10

Poor – shocking condition incl. pronounced ring wear, seam splits, writing, dirt etc. 

–3 out of 10 or less
